We must “deliver the Brexit Wales voted for” | Mae'n rhaid i ni "gyflwyno'r Brexit a bleidleisiodd Cymru drosto"

Following her announcement that she was standing for the role of Welsh Conservative leader, Suzy Davies appeared on BBC Wales Sunday Politics last weekend.

Being interviewed on the programme on Sunday 8th July 2018, Mrs Davies set out why she is a Conservative and what leadership under her would start to look like for the Welsh Conservatives.

“I wasn’t born a Conservative. When I was growing up I looked at what parties really stood for instead of just what you hear said.

“That was when I decided I was a Conservative.”

Mrs Davies, who worked as a solicitor before being elected as the Assembly Member for South Wales West in 2011 went on to explain some of her ambitions.

“It is extremely important that the member of the Welsh Conservative Party have their say on who the next leader is.”

She added “I am a democrat so of course I respect the result of the referendum and how Wales voted.

“It is crucial that we all now work to deliver the Brexit that Wales voted for.”

Having written the Welsh Conservative manifesto for the 2016 Assembly Election, she confirmed “I come from the starting point of aiming for a low tax economy.

“Allowing people to keep more of their money so that it can be circulated around the local economy is important as Wales is a country with a very high number of small and medium sized businesses.”

Yn dilyn ei chyhoeddiad ei bod yn sefyll am rôl arweinydd y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig, ymddangosodd Suzy Davies ar BBC Wales Sunday Politics y penwythnos diwethaf.

Wrth iddo gael ei gyfweld ar y rhaglen ddydd Sul 8fed Gorffennaf 2018, nododd Mrs Davies pam ei bod yn Geidwadwr a pha arweinyddiaeth o dan hi a fyddai'n dechrau edrych yn debyg i'r Ceidwadwyr Cymreig.

"Ni chafodd fy ngeni yn Geidwadwr. Pan oeddwn i'n tyfu lan, edrychais i ar beth pleidiau wir yn sefyll am yn hytrach na dim ond beth oedd yn cael ei ddweud.

"Dyna pan penderfynais i fy mod yn Geidwadwr."

Aeth Mrs Davies, sydd wedi gweithio fel cyfreithiwr cyn ei ethol fel Aelod y Cynulliad dros Dde Orllewin Cymru yn 2011 ymlaen i egluro rhai o'i huchelgeisiau.

"Mae'n bwysig iawn bod aelodau’r Blaid Geidwadol Cymru yn dweud eu dweud ar bwy fydd yr arweinydd nesaf."

Ychwanegodd "Democrat ydw i, felly, wrth gwrs, dwi'n parchu canlyniad y refferendwm a sut pleidleisiodd Cymru.

"Mae'n hollbwysig ein bod ni i gyd yn gweithio i gyflwyno'r Brexit y pleidleisiodd Cymru."

Ar ôl ysgrifennu maniffesto'r Ceidwadwyr Cymreig ar gyfer Etholiad y Cynulliad 2016, cadarnhaodd "Dwi'n dod o'r man cychwyn o anelu at economi treth isel.

"Mae caniatáu i bobl i gadw mwy o'u harian er mwyn iddo gael ei gylchredeg o gwmpas yr economi leol yn bwysig gan fod Cymru'n wlad sydd â nifer uchel iawn o fusnesau bach a chanolig."
