AM disappointed with trauma centre recommendations | AC wedi'i siomi gydag argymhellion y ganolfan trawma

Commenting on the release of NHS Wales’ consultation into the location of a new Trauma Centre for South Wales, Suzy Davies AM said “I am very disappointed that the recommendations suggest that Cardiff should get the major trauma centre.

“There is already one just over the border in Bristol that Cardiff benefits from.

“Not having a major trauma centre in Swansea will mean residents further west will still have to travel huge distances so I really do not understand why the Health Secretary’s advisory panel have made this decision."

Mrs Davies, the Welsh Conservative AM for South Wales West, added “While the consultation runs until the start of February 2018, I would encourage everyone to take part in it now and have their say, whether it is as a patient or as a friend or family member of someone who has experienced emergency trauma services in the past.

Wrth sôn wedi ryddhau ymgynghoriad GIG Cymru i leoliad Canolfan Trawma newydd ar gyfer De Cymru, dywedodd Suzy Davies AC "Rwy'n siomedig iawn bod yr argymhellion yn awgrymu y dylai Caerdydd gael y brif ganolfan trawma.

"Mae un eisoes ychydig dros y ffin ym Mryste y mae Caerdydd yn elwa ohoni.

"Bydd peidio â chael canolfan trawma mawr yn Abertawe yn golygu y bydd preswylwyr ymhellach i'r gorllewin yn gorfod teithio pellteroedd mawr, felly dydw i ddim wir yn deall pam mae panel ymgynghorol yr Ysgrifennydd Iechyd wedi gwneud y penderfyniad hwn."

Ychwanegodd Mrs Davies, AC Ceidwadol Cymru dros Orllewin De Cymru "Er bod yr ymgynghoriad yn rhedeg tan ddechrau Chwefror 2018, byddwn yn annog pawb i gymryd rhan ynddo nawr a chael dweud eu dweud, boed hynny fel claf neu fel ffrind neu aelod o'r teulu o rywun sydd wedi profi gwasanaethau trawma brys yn y gorffennol.
